There is an old saying:
“A picture is worth a thousand words”
So don’t be a tight-arse!!
With digital camera’s so cheap, and the megapixels on your smartphone nearly 10 megapixels, businesses are still making the bad mistake of taking photos of their product or service themselves.
If you’re trying to sell a product or service on your website, as a consumer you want the images to be sharp, clean and pretty, not dark, grainy and blurry with a bad composition.
Don’t think of hiring a professional photographer as a big cost, think of it as a necessary investment. After all, would you use a smartphone to photograph your wedding?
- Always hire a professional photographer.
- Only use your smartphone photos on social media and never on your website.
- Landscape or portrait? Make sure what best suits your website before a photoshoot. Portrait photos are not very useful for featured images, sliders or wallpapers, however may be useful in a gallery.
- Generic stock images can be purchased online, however, remember to not deceive your clients. Shutterstock & iStockphoto have high quality photos at reasonable prices.
